COVID-19 Film & Production Guidelines
There is heated discussion how the creative industry will emerge from this crisis. Through the uncertainty, our team has developed our own studio guidelines & protocols mitigating the covid-19 pandemic. We are entirely ready & prepared to take on this new normal. We have implemented necessary guidelines & best practices using state & federal protocols, as well as CDC standards for similar industries. As we will adapt & face these challenges with both pre & post-production processes. Moving forward for our studio means using the most conservative protocols to ensure that we provide a safe working environment for our production teams. Social distancing, proper hygiene, and mask, of course but also the use of UV lighting sanitation tools, cleaning crews, & safety officers are some of the additional steps we’re taking to ensure we are doing everything we can to create a safe working environment.
We recently had an opportunity to use some of these creative distancing protocols on a fun concept shoot & we are excited to share our timely new content.
Be Safe & But Be Yourself
As this crisis upends timelines & creative direction, the turmoil of the industry has become imminent. Through this time of instability, I wanted to find humor. The production industry has virtually gone dark & I wanted to bring light to this global calamity. We all just need to laugh a little bit & feel the positivity in a world of intense commotion.
I conceptualized a funny & thoughtful shoot that proves expressions are everything. We are all becoming anonymous people with these covid-19 masks & I thought this was an interesting perspective on hiding behind a mask. Through the current lens, we can’t see each other’s expressions & this gives us a large sense of ambiguity.
I thought to myself, “What if these masks give people an opportunity to express who they are”? Pre-coronavirus, there was this lost art in valuing expressions, so I wanted to create a humorous take on positioning a funny expression on a masked face. Post-coronavirus, we now all wonder what the expressions of a friend or the cashier at the grocery store look like behind the mask. This shoot is to encourage laughter & to bring a smile to everyone in this industry & beyond.
I incorporated adults & children together to show the inclusivity of this crisis. In order to enact these protocols, I used my friends as the talent so that I could make sure that people were going to listen & understand. Also, these are people that I have personal relationships with. I did not want to engage professional talent for this shoot.
I want to start to set the focus on getting back to work & finding light in the dark. This was such a fun project for me & I know people are ready to get back to work to feel inspired again. Our team is fully prepared for future production protocols & we are ready to go all in, again.
